    Hi

My DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drives have suddenly stopped being able to install new programs from disk. This also includes running already installed games when the disk is required to be in the drive.
I can read and explore and copy files from the drives, but every time I try to install a program I get the egg timer for a couple of seconds then nothing. No error messages just no installation.

    Can anyone help?

    I'm running Windows XP Home

    Thanks

Strange. Check your system for virus/malware first. Run chkdsk /f on hard disk. Copy the program you are trying to install from DVD onto your hard disk & then try to install it from there. Then maybe we can catch the culprit.

    more info please...

Are you saying that 'autorun' won't start the installation when you put the disc in the drive? Have you tried double-clicking the 'setup.exe' file while 'exploring' the disc?

    B
