i downloaded a trial of wordperfect x3. my trial is now over and i want to get it off my hard drive. i have tried to going to add/remove progams and there is NO remove button. i have tried to delete it from the programs folder but it starts and then it says:

can not delete CrlCmnMappedRes.dll:Access is denied.
make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use.

i am not a computer expert so the easiest instructions would be helpful...

    thanks so much!

    Cant Uninstall

Download and install the free REVO Uninstaller. Once you have it installed run it and find the program you are having problems with-highlight and then click on uninstall. When the first part of the process completes please be sure to let the secong part run and uninstall all highlighted items that appear. This will get rid of the programs and all traces of it on your hard drive.
This is the best free program I've ever come across

I edited your post to include the URL for REVO Uninstaller - always best to include a URL for recommended downloads if possible :)

Careful if you use the Advanced uninstall.

I use REVO and think it is the best and most powerful uninstaller but in the Registry cleanup only check the BOLD entries it presents and then delete.

If there are more it will present the screen again. If there are no BOLD entries on this screen now the click the + and drill down to you see a BOLD and check it.

Repeat this process until it finds no more.

NOW: by manually trying to delete from Program Files its un-installer may be missing and you will need to take the other steps below, in this case REVO will not find it either.

Next time if no entry in Add/remove browse to the program folder and look for Unwise or uninstall.exe. Use them if they exist.

Now after trying with REVO if it can not find it or uninstall it do the below.

    Download File Assassin http://www.malwarebytes.org/fa-setup.exe

Install it let it put its icon on desktop

Then boot to Safe Mode and try removing the folder again as you did before.

If you can still not remove it use FileAssassin: browse to Wordperfect folder and find the DLL and tell FA to USE Delete on Boot

After the DLL file is gone the folder will delete normally.

You should also check with the Windows Installer cleanup tool to see if there is an entry left for Word Perfect and remove it.

The Cleanup utility is a last resort for cleaning bad uninstalls never to be used first to uninstall anything.
