My son was trying to play some games on St. Jude Children's Hospital Mathathon page,
www.mathathon.org/fng/fng-games.htm, but it only wants to download. I've installed the plugin, still
    nothing.

It works in IE, but I prefer using Mozilla.

I suspect it has something to do with MIME types, but I don't know how to check.

    Any help would be appreciated.

See if this is any help, I'm using Mozilla Firebird so instructions
may differ. I went to that site and tried opening a game.
A prompt came up to either "save to disk" or "open with "....
From the drop down menu beside "open with" I selected
    "Other"
    Navigated to C:\Program files\Mozilla.org\Firebird
right clicked on the Firebird icon in that folder and chose select.
The game opened after clicking ok..
You could also put a check in "Do this automatically..........

As I said, I'm using Firebird, so hope it's some help.

Thanks for that info. I must have forgotten to state that my download manager intercepts it. Without removing the download manager from the plugins, I can't get to what you suggest.

Are you using DAP? You can try holding down the ALT key
when clicking on a game to temporarily disable the download
    manager. (According to their website)
    Just a suggestion:p:)

I'm using Star Dowloader. For some reason that doesn't work, even though their doc says that's what to do to not invoke SD. Besides, my son's only 6 and he wouldn't remebr to that all the time.

Like I said, I was only giving you suggestions. I've never used
a download manager before, but here are the instructions
    from Stardownloader
"If you're holding down the [ALT] key when clicking a download, Star Downloader will let the browser handle the link. Please note that this only work with Internet Explorer. An additional method for disabling Star Downloader is right-clicking the system tray icon and uncheck "Browser Integration "

I was thinking that you could temporarily disable your download manager and put the check in "Do this automatically for files of this type for now on "

I appreciate the suggestions. The browser integration is turned off, but SD keeps on activating. Probably because it is in the plugin folder.

I think I've run out of suggestions, other than trying to shutdown Stardownloader on startup until you make the appropriate changes....You may even want to check in the options of SD and see if there is a way to disable it from handling .swf file extensions.

It is the website, doesn't seem to work with Mozilla. It brings up Mozilla's downloader for me, and also asks what to run it with.
My Flash and Shockwave are both fully functional at other websites.

Hi Mark, as posted earlier, I was able to run the games with
Mozilla Firebird. Not sure about Mozilla 1.6 or earlier
I didn't check the "Do this automatically for files of this type for now on" button, but if I click on one of the games my first
options are either to open with Mozilla Firebird or save to
    disk.
When I click OK to open with Firebird, the game starts right up.
