There may be a prize for this one.
I have a Logitech wireless optical mouse LX7.
The supplied software has never worked for me despite many emails from Logitech's support dept. I've given up on it, but I can not get the software off my machine. After trying the traditional method - control panel>add/remove pgms, I tried Revo Unistaller and that didn't work either. The machine locks when I attempt to uninstall the software.

How do I get the software off?

Maybe you need to uninstall the Desktop Messenger and/or WildTangent software (via Add/Remove Programs) before uninstalling the mouse software (i.e., SetPoint, etc.).

Neither of these are listed in Revo or Add/Remove.

    Hmmmm...

"Logitech SetPoint" has been the mouse software for my Logitech mice I have used the last few years.

How is your Logitech mouse software named in your Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs? Can you also provide a version number for us?

    I'm not being clear.

SetPoint is the software I cannot delete.
I looked in the program list for Desktop Messenger and/or WildTangent and could not find either.
When I attempt to unistall SetPoint the machine locks.

I have to run and will be back later. Can you send me some specifics of where to do this?

When this happened to me, I installed the mouse ware again and then used Revo.

If you use the uninstaller in add remove, Revo will not be able to find it.

    Sorry to butt in....

    No Problem.

When I attempt to reinstall, the machine locks.
    This software is like poison.

    Chas,

I have had trouble with Logitech SetPoint software too. I think the problems occurred when I attempted to install a version of SetPoint that was incompatible with the particular mouse model number that was attached.

That is one reason why I am still seeking your currently-installed Logitech SetPoint version number from you. ;)

I also have noticed my firewall application protection log shows MANY instances of SetPoint actions being blocked. After disconnecting from the Internet, you might have better luck installing/uninstalling your SetPoint software if you FIRST disable your firewall software.

Remember to re-enable your firewall software before you connect back to the Internet.

Regarding your system specifications, we still are not able to see them. I suspect you have not enabled their display yet.

Then click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of that page.

    EDIT:
IMHO, the more people offering ideas the better. THANK YOU for your ideas, Bill! :)

    As noted by Mailman

I have set that for you, so it now shows.

    Arrrrgh...

I'm sorry, Arie. I typed that message on my laptop and the larger text size didn't look nearly so large on that display. Please forgive me for the excess (and please don't totally block that feature in the vB software). I'll limit my text size to no more than 3 from now on.

Everyone, I did a little digging through Chas Berlin's old posts and found another short thread that involved his mouse. Here's a link in case that turns out to be relevant for his current situation.
That thread raises at least one more question in my mind but I'll wait until after Chas tells us his currently-installed SetPoint version before I decide whether to investigate further or not.

As per Logitech I turned off AntiVirus prior to installing SetPoint (though they don't mention disconnecting from the internet - gee I hope no one follows their instruction w/out 1st pulling the plug from the net!) Haven't tried the firewall though, BUT I do go into install mode (Comodo Firewall) so the firewall allows the software to have at it.
I checked the Logitech site for a software ver and it appeares to be Software Version: 4.80 - though I can't be sure, as I may have an older version. Is there a way of looking somewhere in the computer? There was no disc w/ the mouse - I downloaded the driver. I'm a big help!

I've updated my system specs and they are now accurate.
It's been a heck of a stressful day. I'm shooting a wedding Saturday and I'm having lens issues.
Couldn't really think straight earlier today.

if you want to get some unwanted software removed from you machine - let say "logitec" - go to start - run - type regedit and highlight the very top tree. Then goto edit and find and search for logitec and delete any entries that correspond with logitec - PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN EDITING THE REGISTRY IT CAN BE DANGEROUS AND YOUR MACHINE MAY NOT WORK IN THE SAME WAY AFTERWARDS - after you have finshed this go into add/remove programs and try and remove it again. Also make sure all services associated with that software are stopped and that all processes are not running.

I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE TRYING MY SUGGESTIONS AND IT NOT WORKING OR IF IT CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS OR ISSUES.
