So my Duron 800mHz PC dies last night right in the middle of browsing. Reboot and as Windows 2000 Pro is starting, I get the blue screen of death, notifying me something to the effect that no boot something-or-another could be found.

I suspect I know what's going on since the machine wasn't making as much noise as usual. I open up the case and the CPU fan isn't running when I power up.

I switch the fan plug to another receptacle on the mobo and boom, it now runs when it powers up. But now I don't get any POST or video!

I can here the hd whirl and the mobo is getting power (and the CPU and video card fans are running), but nothing on video. Swapped out monitors, same thing: nothing.

    Any suggestions here?

    TIA

    Two things.

    - Run the system with the cover removed and a fan blowing on it for a while and using the normal plug locations.

    - Post the exact, entire error you are getting.

You have to have a fan plugged into your cpu_fan plug. It won't POST unless there is something there drawing current.

You don't happen to have a GA-7VA motherboard do you?
