Background: Hard Drive crashed, set up new drive and downloaded iTunes. After install iTunes won't load. Says can't pen iTunes library because it was made by later version of iTunes.
Not true. I'm loading ver 7.6.2 and was using ver 7.6.2 on the other drive. It's a catch 22 that's cost me a couple hrs now.
What do I do. I can manual reload the library if I can get iTunes to open.

Hi chas. Try this, click Start< My Documents< My Music. Once your Music folder opens locate the itunes library folder. Rename the library.itl file to library.old. Now restart itunes.

Question. The iTunes library is on the old drive (now slaved), and I plan on moving the music to the new drive once iTunes is working. If I do the rename and it works will there be issues once the library is moved?

Your suggestion was spot on! Once the library was renamed iTunes opened right up. Unfortunately when the library is moved it reverts to it's original state, which means a hours of time renaming the files.
    Thx a ton, Evan! :)

    On two fronts, no less.
So far no one's got a solution for the mail default issue. What burns me is I had it set up on my other drive (it crashed), but I don't remember how I did it.

Wow. :p Well I did some searching around and couldn't find a solution to your default mail client issue. :( I will continue to monitor your other thread and if I find something I'll let you know.
