Hello and seasons greetings. I haven't been here for a while, which means things have been running smoothly.

For some reason, I can't "forward" e-mail. When clicking on "forward ", putting in the address, etc., there is nothing in the message part. Just incase it wasn't showing in "compose" I sent the message, and then checked the "sent" folder, but still no message appeared.

It was a forward that I was sending to my daughter, an e-mail from another relative, so I was able to play around with it and try to send it to her. In the meantime, I saved the message as text and used copy and paste to send it to her.

I also noticed that I can't highlight and copy the text in an e-mail message. I didn't know we couldn't do that, or can we?

Why can't I "forward "? Everything else is working fine. Netscape 4.7, Netscape Messenger.

    Thank you.

    Pat

I have not used NS4.x for about two years, and I have no recollection if I ever tried to forward a message, before.
And, what do you know, my mail is working, and if I click forward, all that comes up is the subject, and the prompt to enter an address But, if I highlight the messagr|right click Copy, and then right click|Paste in the blank area, I can get whatever I highlighted.
This is very much AOL mail, but it works. Being so rusty with 4.7, I can say that it works

    Hi Pat,

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I use Mozilla Mail. In my Menu bar I click Edit > Preferences.
In the Preference window under Mail & Newsgroup, I select Composition. In right pane, on top, is Forwarding Messages. Choose Inline in the drop down box. I think As Attachment is the default.

    I hope this help.

    And Happy New Year, too.

    Thanks, "guys ".
Up until now I have always been able to just click on "forward" and the message would appear in the message section. I would usually write some comments above the message, then send it. Sometimes I would just click "forward" put in the address, and click on "send" and away it went.

That is the normal mode for the 4.7 Messenger. Evidently there is a glitch in that normal mode. All the other features are working in their usual manner.

By the way, I put a little gif at the end of my first posting, and I see the UBBC is not working. Is there not a UBBC in use in this forum?

    Thanks again.

    Pat

Net 4.7 mail system is on the Green Mile

Hi Pat, I too am using Net 4.7, but with Win95. I don't think you mentioned what your OS is, but if it's 95, they are both on a slipery slope.

My mail server Tech support Man informed me yesterday that both these systems are pretty much abandoned and pushed out to quietly die of neglect, both by Netscape and our old Buddy, Bill G.

In looking at the reply posts to your problem I have to sigh when I see what others are doing to fwd' a mail page on their latest and greatest mail systems.

My old Win 4.7 will fwd' everything with one click too.

Sounds like your good old system is getting ready for retirement.

I don't know if all of us are talking about the same thing. Please, check if View Attachment Inline is checked.

It's Win 98, also on the way out. Yes, view attachment inline is checked. It has always worked find, but just quit.

Thanks. It looks like no one has any more suggestions.

Sorry for giving you a bum steer, about Attachment Inline. That is for you to see.
But, you select Inline from your preferences|mail and new|messages. It is set by default as Attachment. I tested Forwarding, and, I was getting nothing. I checked the preferences, and they had the default setting. I changed to Inline, and the text showed up.
    Copy and paste works fine.
I had not been using my 4.8 for long time, but it still works. I have Win98.
