    Earth-shattering problem!
    (NOT!)

I'm trying to add a couple of my old tried-and-true screensaver friends to my XP-Pro machine, but I'll be darned if I can find out where the other screensavers reside!

Not as interesting or socially compelling as the Anthony trial, but it'll have to do.

Should be in C:\Windows\System32 directory. Look for the .scr extenstion.

Example: ss3dfo.scr for the 3D Flowerbox screensaver.

Thanks, John! Moire.scr is in the C:\Windows\System32, but it does not show up when the "Properties\display properties\screensavers" menu boxes are successively accessed from the desktop. I tried restarting the computer but it still doesn't show up in the pulldown menu.

BTW: Love the sig line, but you get HALF of it done? I can only manage about 4%!

This is from [Vista] Help and Support
It might need to be actually installed to run correctly.

    Matt
PS: You need to use a descriptive title to let people that could help or people interested in a solution, know the problem. Check the forums' rules (suggestions for getting an appropriate reply). I will edit your title.
PPS: I have known third-party screensavers to bring spyware along with their installers. Although, they have an Agreement and if you approve, then it can't be termed malware and so you approve of it spying. It won't be picked up as malware by the antimalware scanner. You agreed to it.

Thanks, Matt. Moire is a screensaver from the early days of WIN95 and has traveled down the years with me on a succession of storage drives, so chances of an infection from that or of an install program are slim. On WIN95/98 machines, we used to just drop the .scr into Windows\System32 and it would appear (as if my magic) in the selection box at the next restart. Alas, the magic has gone away.

Full marks on the title... I shall endeavour to improve.

    Is this helpful:
    http://www.findthatfile.com/search-335462-hZIP/winrar-winzip-download-moirescreensaver-zip.htm

Download the link entitled "moirescreensaver-zip" and either put in the /system32 folder and install it as you would any screensaver or possibly as in my case and win7:
after extracting , a right click option was to install. I did so and moire.scr was installed and running. No problem installing, setting and using this on windows 7.

Quote from text readme from the zip:

As a side note, once extracted and put in the windows\system32 folder, it showed up as one of the choices in the list for screensaver selection.

Just reading on this forum someplace about another gentleman trying to use an old Win 95/98 app, and XP.,Vista/W7 just won't see it. As was stated by another member, it is quite possible the program is a 16 bit app - in which case none of today's stuff, especially NTFS will see it. I don't know how to tell if it's a 16 or 32 bit program tho, so I can't help you there.

    .02 Just a thought.
