 Running Netscape 7.1 on Win XP Home Edition with multiple users.
Would like to set the Kid's home page to their bookmarks so I know what
they are seeing, similar to how I did back in Win98 with earlier version of NS.

    Already looked in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\username\*.slt
but I don't see any bookmarks.html file there, as is suggested there should be.
Checked to make sure my Windows Explorer isn't hiding any system files on me, but still can't find any bookmarks.html files ANYWHERE. Have searched the entire C: drive!

    Any clues would be appreciated.

    TIA,
    Rusty

    Welcome to the Forum, Rusty!

    Hi Rusty,

You are looking at the Windows 98/98SE location for the bookmarks.html file:
    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\username\*.slt

The location for the bookmarks.html file for Windows XP is:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\username\*.slt

You can also do a "Find" to locate all instances of the file.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Ramona! That worked!

Really like the bookmarks as my home page, and spent many hours
looking for them after I upgraded to XP. Can't explain why
a search of my C: drive didn't find them. Oh well, a problem for
    another day.

Now at least I'll have a good starting point for my 8 year old
twin boys when the get on the computer. They're pretty
smart though, I know it won't be long before I'm looking for
a "Cyber Nanny" program or something like it to keep them
    out of mischief.

    Hi Rusty,

In Windows XP you found out that these files are hidden by default, and to view them you have to go into the folder options to show the files. I should have pointed that out to you!

Brother, do you have you hands full with 8 yr. old twins, but congratulations! About next year won't be too soon to start censoring their browsing, as it's amazing what these kids learn at school. ;)

    Rusty,
the reason why a Search did not turn up anything is because the Application Data folder is hidden, but if you unhide it, you should find it.
You did not notice that ramona's post gave a different location for XP.
So look at the location given by Ramona, and:
NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders
You will be ok after this. You should select to search hidden files and folders.
