Which specific registry keys are you trying to delete, and do you use XP Home or Pro? Can you not just change the value of the keys?

Most likely a permissions problem. You must be logged on to an account with Admin. privledges, right click the key in question and select permissions. Highlight the username you are logged on to and check the box below to enable full. Apply and OK. You may need to expand the key where applicable and change the subkeys also.
