I have an MSI CX600 laptop. It was initally windows 7 32bit, but the processor supports 64bit. So I reinstalled the windows 7 64bit. MSI does not support 64bit and has no drivers. Windows 7 installed the drivers I'm using and its fine. I was using a wireless "g" router fine, but in order to stream films etc I upgraded to a wireless "n" router. (this is my 3rd).
My wireless card is 802.11bgn 1T1R mini card wireless adapter driver
as you can see it is a wireless n
When I first connected to the router it worked fine for about 2 hours then could no longer connect? It My router is using
    Wireless Summary
    Wireless Mode B/G/N(Mixed Mode)
    Channel 1
    Wireless Security WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
yet the wireless card on my laptop is detecting the security was WEP not WAP so when I enter the wireless key it states that the settings don't match and won't work.

I initially fort it was a virus but none detected by McAfee or Malware Bytes following 3 different deep scans each, I rolled back the system restore. I was able to connect to the router again for 2 hours then same thing happened again. I have no older system restores.

My laptop still works fine on any wireless "g" router, but won't work on 3 different wireless "n" routers.

I googled my wireless adapter for a windows 7 64bit driver. However every one I've found either wants me to install a driver finder/guide application - NO - or is for a HP compaq laptop and when installing fails as states doesn't meet minimum requirements. The agreements small print includes installation into a HP as a minimum requirement and not for use on other laptops so I assume thats the stumbling block.

I then purchased a usb wireless adapter believing i could bypass my wireless card and connect that way. IEEE8022.11n 300Mbps. My connection options in the tray gives me 2 lists of connections available via both wireless card and usb wireless adapter. The wireless card's setting still are different from routers WEP not WAP. The usb wireless adapter just won't connect, it keeps saying the wireless key is wrong.

My router even has a WPS button so when I highlight the correct connection I press the button on the router and my pc processes it, then no. same problems as above.

Again its doubtful this is a router problem as two other laptop's connect to it wirelessly without a problem and I experiment with both pushing the WPS button and installing the key manually. all fine. It's just this wretched laptop.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you for your time

64bit drivers for that laptop are available at the MSI Website. Install the chipset drivers first, followed by video, audio then network.

Remove all existing wifi networks from previous connections and manually create a new one to your router.

Start menu > search box > type manage wireless > Manage wireless networks control panel link.

Thanks I'll try that. There never used to be any 64bit drivers for this laptop on their site. I e-mailed them about it last year. I see they now have some, including what I need the lan driver. However No Windows 7 64bit chipset driver though they do have video, audio, lan, card reader and blue tooth for 64bit.

I'll try this and get back to you. Thanks again

That's because it's likely that the chipset drivers for that laptop are already packaged in win7.

    Also, re the wifi:
If have an Atheros chipset wifi adapter, access its properties and change it from Auto to 802.11b/g.

I'm wanting to use wireless n not g. G works perfectly.

By and By the new wireless 64bit drivers on MSi's site worked a treat. All sorted thank you. Plus, shortly after I got the laptop I e-mailed MSi as to why they didn't do 64bit drivers for it as they aren't packaged in windows 7. They stated that they felt the laptop worked ok as 32bit and saw no reason to support 64bit, even though the chipset was 64bit. They stated they had no reason to support 64bit or provide drivers for it, but would post any that came available in the future, though they themselves would not develop any specifically for that laptop.

They now have wireless lan, audio and video drivers solely because they have been developed for the components fitted
