I just installed Netscape 7.01 (I still have 4.76 installed) on Win98 OS. The install went fine, but now when I run 7.01, I cannot connect to the internet. It (Netscape) just says that it cannot find the server. Has anyone seen this or knows what to do.

    Thank you in advance

    Welcome to the Forum, hendu!

    Hi hendu,

Following are some settings for you to check, so we can troubleshoot your Netscape startup problem:

Look in your Start|Settings|Control Panel|Internet Options
    Click on the Connections Tab

You have choices similar to the following:
    Never Dial a connection
Dial whenever a network connection is not present
    Always dial my default connection

    Select the appropriate setting.

Have you configured your Mail & Newsgroups Accounts correctly? You might want to double check those settings with your ISP, or with your Communicator settings.

    In Edit|Preferences|Advanced|Proxies
Enable: Direct connection to the Internet

The problem could also be Quick Launch, which can be disabled from within Netscape:

    Edit|Preferences|Advanced
    Disable: Quick Launch

Let us know if any of the above gets you online.

    Ramona,

Thank you for your help in resolving my connection problems. I went back and checked my Internet Connections (Control Panel) and found that Netscape 7.0 was trying to connect using the "dial - up" versus the DSL connect. The strange thing was that I didn't receive the pop-up saying connect .....

All is now well and I am posting this message with 7.0.

    Thanks again!
    Mike :D
