    Windows XP HOME SP1

    run->msconfig->startup

    All items are unchecked. I could not check any of them as well as items under services.

    But items under general, system.ini, boot.ini win.ini could be changed.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Jason,

    Are your startups starting?

    Is the Normal Startup type line ticked?

    Did you change the Startup type to Diagnostic or Selective, perhaps for troubleshooting?

    Did you uncheck any startups in the startup tab prior for troubleshooting?

    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html is a utility that shows startup locations. No install needed, execute and run. In the Login tab, are those same startups (and more) also un checked?

    If so, does checking them in Autoruns also then put the checkmarks back in msconfig?

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Jason,

    It is Selective startup
    If you tick "normal startup" does that return things to check marks being present in the Startup tab?

    Regards - Charles
