Cant change Shared Folder name...

    Running xp home and have a prob. I accidentally labelled a shared folder with more than 12 characters and now it wont show up on my me machine. The prob is that I cant change the name of the shared folder when i go to the properties sharing tab... ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

    It is something else. Not 12 character name!

    When you renamed it you lost your share at that point.

    Why can't you rename it?

    Probably security.

    Reboot f8 to safe mode and try to rename back to original name. If it allows this then you will still be without your share. So reshare it.

    Then reboot to normal! Hopefully this is not one of XP homes quirks/shortcomings!
