New here and first post. I searched. Found nothing specific. Dell 8400 XP SP3 dual layer burner internal dual layer burner external. The icons in my computer look correct for the drive types. When I put a blank DVD in either drive it tries to read it. The icon in my computer then changes to a CD ROM. When I try to access the disk I get the "please insert a disc in drive X" There is also an internal DVD ROM. All three will play DVDs and CDs without issues. When I remove the disc from the burners the icon reverts back to DVD RW. The external drive is rarely used and stays turned off until needed. I have not tried to burn in quite some time so no idea how long the problem has been around. Sorry this is long. Any help is appreciated. GBB
