I have one box in my domain that I can't browse the network unless I'm booted in Safe Mode with Networking.
This machine was origionally a stand alone machine. I had one heck of a time getting it to join the domain but finally got it by doing it in Safe mode.
This is a XP Pro machine with Master Browsing set to False.
In safe mode I can go \\server\C$ and it goes there instantly in safe mode but will not in normal boot. What am I missing?

Based on your comment about difficulty in getting it on the domain along with the current problems - is a clean install of XP an option with this system? As in format, install?

That is almost never my first suggestion but my guess is that even if you get this problem solved, you are looking at a troublesome system down the road.

If that isn't possible, I'd look at changing the NIC for a new one and if the PC has the nic on the motherboard, at going with a PCI nic and ignoring the built in one.

    Thanks Newt,
Replacing the NIC card doesn't sound like a bad idea. I discovered today that there are 2 XP boxes on this Domain doing the same thing. Both with integrated NICs. A third XP box on this same domain has a 3Com 3C905 NIC and it works flawlessly!

Im replacing the DC next week so I'm going to let the dust settle and see if they talk to the new Win2K DC better than the old NT4.0 with service pack 4 that they are currently on.
