I have a BX6 Rev. 2 Abit motherboard with the latest BIOS available, PIII 700MHZ, 512 RAM, 40G MaxtorHD(40 pin cable used), and a 50X CDROM. When I installed Win XP I wasn't able to boot from the Win XP CD (Home Edition, Full). I went into BIOS and selected CDROM as the first boot device, but it would never boot from it. My cdrom is selected as 'Master' on IDE Secondary. I finally had to use the 6 floppies, which I downloaded, to get to boot off my CDROM. I have everything installed ok, but it's really bothering me that I couldn't boot off the Win XP CD. I didn't think my system was that old. The Win XP CD boots ok from my son's computer, so the CD is ok. Could someone give me some ides? Could my CDROM be too old?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

I had the same problem with my BX6, and my TH7 II Raid and finally built a system with a VH6-II and it worked. Like you I set up the Bios correctly but no luck. These are all ABIT MBs.

The Raid MB does have the CD installed as a SCSI, so maybe thats the problem.

The VH6-II is a standard setup and I had no problems.

Have to be honest and say that I prefered the diskettes because of the driver options it allowed.

    Hmmm.....I have the TH7-II Non-RAID, Plextor CD-ROM.

All Ok here. May be a SCSI thing.
