Have inspiron desk top which is hard wired to a router for our network , all 4 laptops have internet access but the desk top doesn't. I called Dell because the machine is still under warranty. The Dell tech had me uninstall something under network adapters in device manager. I then ran a lot of ipconfigs with no meaningful results. The system was restored, still can't access the internet. The message I get when I troubleshoot is the remote device or resource won't accept connection. Dell's solution is to reinstall the OS, windows 7. I do not want to do this if another solution can be found. Does any one have any advice?
    Thanks,
    Dee

We need some more info. Open Device Manager and see if the are any red x's or yellow flags next to the newtwork adapter. Next, open a command prompt and type the following without the quotes and paste all the results back here, "ipconfig /all ". What Ver of Win 7 are you using?

I don't know what I did but I can now access the internet. I did find this computer infected earlier in the week but cleaned it up with Malwarebytes I think it may be a good idea id I have the virus people look at it.
