Can't access taskbar settings

    When I right click on the taskbar, two items -- Lock the taskbar and Taskbar Settings are greyed out. Internet searches say it's a problem with explorer.exe, and say if I go into Task Manager, find explorer.exe and exit it, the problem gets fixed. It doesn't. If I go into PC Control panel and click on Taskbar, the first two entries (unlock taskbar and taskbar settings) show "On" but are greyed out and can't be accessed.

    If I rename Explorer.exe and download a new copy of explorer.exe, will that solve the problem?

    Hi,

    What version of Windows 10 do you have installed? Did this issue start happening recently or did it happen out of the blue? Have you made any software or hardware changes before this issue occurred?

    Lets start with Performing a clean boot in Windows and see if that helps.

    Hi davidcal, Have you tried Right click on Start > Task manager > Scroll to Bottom of list > Right click on > Windows Explorer > Restart?
