Hello, I need help but it may be considered unethical since it's sort of a competition? Though it isn't a business... If so - please forgive and ignore? Thank you!

Because I have an Outlook Express problem I tried the MS forum because they specialize in OE problems, but for some reason I can't open to post (I can open to reply) even though I've signed up for the "Passport" etc. and it worked fine otherwise. I got tired of trying and decided to bring this forum to my OE...but the messages are all in foreign language, or garbled, or nonsense, etc. and no options to search for certain subjects only as one does in forums... My question:

    (1) Would anyone happen to know why it won't open for me to post? (link at the end just in case...) Since I could reply, I had to "hijack" one of the replies to ask why and was told to rid of the pop up in the yellow line in the IE screen, I did, but sitll didn't work). Or....

    (2) Did anyone ever try to open MS forum in OE? If so, how can I find options to choose subjects and set up acceptable messages as they happen in most forums?

Thanks ever so very much! :) Adela

    Hello Adela,

I've moved your thread to the IE section and also modified your title.

    Now to your problem:

Try putting the forum into IE's Trusted Sites, if it works, that'll tell you the problem is one of IE's security settings.

    Regards - Charles

Hi again, and I'm sorry to bother, but I went to IE Trusted Sites and entered the site but a popup msg said: "Sites added to this zone must use the https:// prefix to assure secure connection." What does this mean as far as my case goes? Thanks again. Adela

Uncheck the box re. Server verification - it is checked by default.

Thank you PeteC and charlesvar, I did the above and it says: "This zone contains websites that you trust not to damage your computer or data. ", so I wonder how this action will reveal the reason for my not being able to post at MS OE forum?

    Thanks again! :) Adela

    Hi Adela,

IE's security settings in this case may be too restrictive.

And there is no reason not to trust a Microsoft forum site :)

Hi Charles, does this mean I can't open that post because IE is restricting me?
I agree... But I'm sorry that I can't understand the above sentence... :) Adela

I don't know for sure - that's what we want to find out.

Usually web sites want to run ActiveX or Scripting on a system, most of the time for benign reasons.

So instead of having you go into IE's Security settings and "hunting and pecking" as to which IE security setting may be preventing you from posting, this is a faster way to narrow this down.

Another consideration is that putting the site into the trusted zone is site specific and continues the current security settings for all other sites. If you change any security setting, it would be for all sites, something you wouldn't want to do anyway.

    Regards - Charles
