    Hi,

I have a laptop and a pc, both running Windows XP Pro. When i try to access the pc's files from the laptop it says:

"\\paul is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

    Access is denied. "

I have norton internet security on the pc, but i have configured it many times to allow the laptop to access it... I did this by using norton's 'Network setup wizard'

Please tell me if more information is needed.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance,

    Liam.

Log on to both PCs with a username and non-blank password. Use the same one for simplicity. See if that fixes you up.

If so and if you don't like using the same account on both PCs, post back for other options but lets make sure this cures the problem first.

    Some work, others don't

Yes, absolutely leave the passwords on the accounts.

If you are using different logon accounts on each PC, make sure that both PCs have both accounts.

If they do and you still have issues, there are probably permission settings on the problem shares that prevent an account from using it.

What I suggest is leaving the share permissions so that anyone can access the share. Then on the folder that is shared, make sure each account you want to have access is in security for the folder.

I think i have got it sorted...
