I am using IE 6.0 and Windows XP Professional. I use Earthlink as an ISP, Norton Security Center for virus protection with security set at medium and Office Professional 2003.

I have DSL at work and cable at home. At work, I can only access https sites. At home, I can access both. If I disable Norton at work, I can access both http and https. At home I don't have to disable Norton and can access both.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    depends
    You 95% solved problem.
    Norton firewall issue.

HTTP uses port 80, HTTPS (same basic protocol but secure connection) uses port 443.
Don’t know your Norton version so can’t tell exactly how to configure.
Hopefully you’re using same versions at both home n work. So just go to firewall settings – possibly advanced settings and compare the two.

If you’re using Norton 2007 just open it up.
Go to Norton Internet Security Tab – settings – personal firewall – click it – configure – click advanced settings – n hit reset. Since allowing port 80 is default - my guess is someone has been playing with it.

But who ever said Norton is intuitive? LOL
