    Hey folks.

I have a bjc 4400 canon printer. This printer worked very nicely at the beginning of the summer (around mai), then I took a long holidag untill august. When I now tryed to use the printer I get nothing. I tryed doing a test page, still nothing. It does actually try to print but the ink doesnt get onto the papir.

I open the front cover of the printer, and took out the container that holds the two cartridges (one black and one colored). There is no way to tell how much ink is left in either of the cartridges. I've heard from a mate that the container might dry up which makes it impossible for the ink to get through.

I find it a bit weird that the container would dry up like that :confussed: ??

So my question is basiclly, must I buy a new container and new cartridges, which btw is very expensive, or is there another way ?

Also like to add, I've actually tryed two different containers but it didnt make a difference (both of the containers havnt been used in a couple of months so they might have both dryed up) and Im also using the latest driver for the printer.

Just buy a black ink cartridge, which should be the cheapest, and try it to see if it's a printer or ink problem.

    Hey laasunde..

So everything was working well and you went on vacation. While you were gone, the printer took a vacation and refuses to come back?

My printer (HP) has a utilities page that will clean the print heads and allign them etc. Does yours? Start/settings/printers. right click on the printer in question and your utilities might come up. I'm unfamiliar with the Cannon printers.

Could be the place where the ink comes out of the cartridges is plugged with dried ink. This can be cleaned with a qtip and alcohol. Denatured is the best type.

Here's how I test Canon cartridges. Remove it and touch the felt area on the bottom with the corner torn from a piece of paper. If it comes away with ink on it, your cartridge isn't empty yet.

As for denatured alcohol, I never touch the stuff...... hic
