    Hi,

From IE's menu, select Tools > Manage Add-ons.

In the Manage Add-ons dialog, select Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer, and make sure Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX (pdf.ocx) is Enabled. If it's disabled, enable the add-on and restart Internet Explorer.

I'm assuming you are using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF files.

Another thing to take into consideration is makeing sure your "Adobe LM Service" is started and set to Automatic. This happened to me once before and that ended up being the problem.

    To Check:
    -Click Run
-Type "Services.msc" (Without the quotes of course)
-Look for Adobe LM Service in the list
-Make sure it is set to Automatic and is started.

The Adobe LM Service is a service belonging to Adobe Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader. It is not installed with Reader, only installs with Acrobat full version that can create pdf files. It it not needed to read pdf files nor is it used by theb Reader plugin for Internet Explorer.

    GRAHAM WESTON--
How are you clicking? Right click|Save As or left click?
There is a setting in Adobe Reader Edit|Preferences|Internet|display PDF in Browser that should allow you to read the .pdf in your default browser with a left click. But downloading the .pdf and then left clicking on it is a good work around.
You may also want to check that you have the latest version of Reader. It is now 7.0.5 plus an Update.

You could be right as I am using adobe reader 5.x. (I don't like versions after 5.x) It's possible the Adobe LM Service is included in the version of reader you have. My mistake, sorry if I alarmed you.

If you are using Adobe Reader 7 check under Edit > Preferences > Internet and ensure that all boxes are checked under Web Browser Options.

Same option may exist in earlier versions.

    Gentlemen,
Thank you all for your information. Adobe reader was enabled in options, but still no luck. I un-installed Adobe reader 7, and attempted to re-install, but it just hung up. From memory, this problem started after an automatic update. Anyway, I removed all traced of adobe 7, and installed adobe reader 6, and it work's fine, so I am happy. I can now see PDF's in IE, and that is all I was after. Again, many thanks to all.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the update - glad to hear that you found a workaround.
