    Greetings

I have just resolved some virus/malware issues...big thanks to broni...and some others issue have come to light:

1 Cleaned out old java runtime using JavaRa - last runtime installed seemed to be 6 update 21, JavaRa reported all removed but 6 21 was still there. When trying to delete with add/remove functions or when trying to install update 27 the following error occurs.

    Internal error 2753 Regutils.dll

Cannot updateJ ava an now some apps wont run.

2 There are two windows updates waiting to install but always fail. The recent malware problems identified a problem with CryptSvc and catroot2 which appears to have been resolved and I understand the lingering updates may be some sort of false positive..false negative??.

Some advice would be most appreciated

I've managed to remove old java. there was 6.20 and 6.21 somehow intermingled

Tried to re-install 6 27 and got much further into the installation but failed with the following.
Error 1330.A file cannot be installed because C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Application Data\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_27\data1.cab has invalid digital signature - indicates cab file may be corrupt. Tried a couple of installs but all stop at the same place

I've managed to solve my update problems so all appears up to date now. Needed to re-register about a dozen dll's. Tried this before but it failed that time, I suspect the clean-up as part of the malware removal did some good.

I suspect all of my recent problems arose as a result of updating IE from 6 to 8, until then all updates, security etc etc were working fine, since the update I've had no end of trouble.

Anyway problem solved, no further action required and thanks again for the help with Java, I was at a bit of a loss with that one.
