I have one computer running Windows XP Professional and it is connected via USB to my printer and hardline to the router. I have one computer running Windows 2000 and it is using a wireless PC card to the same router. I can print from both computers, but I cannot share files.

I have made test folders on the desktop and set them to share. I have opened up network neighborhood on the 2000 and can "see" the other machine, but cannot access anything (even though I created a shared folder on that machine's desktop).

What am I doing wrong here?

You need a user account on on the computer you are contecting to. So if you are logged in to PC1 as Paul, you need a user account for Paul on PC2 before you can access the shares.
