PC is WIN2000, Netscape 7.1 installed last month w/ no problems from 7.0. Updated addressbook last night, then signed off of network. When started up today, address book changes and addition to bookmarks from yesterday not there. Can receive email, but cannot send. No error messages. Have run into this problem w/ other PCs (although not 1 other w/ Win2000), and in the long-run, easiest fix was to uninstall, delete Netscape associated files (WinAmp, mozilla, gecko, prefs files, etc.), reboot, then reinstall. Am missing something in the deletion process because after download fresh ns.exe and run install, it immediately opens up w/all old settings and inability to send email on this PC. Have rechecked all email server settings and they are correct. (Note -- User can access/send mail from ISP site, so no actual problem w/ email, just something in this particular setup.) Anyone have any ideas?

    Welcome to the Forum, Laurie_b256!

    Hi Laurie,

It could be that you have a corrupt Address Book. See if these workarounds help with that issue: Corrupt Address Book.

On the inability to send Mail, check out these workarounds:
    Can't Send Mail.

This is because an uninstall of Netscape 7.1 does not touch the Profile. It only uninstalls the Netscape Program. For Windows 2000 and XP, these files are hidden by default. See: Profiles Folder Locations

    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

Let us know if you have further questions, and if any of the workarounds help with your Netscape 7.1 issues.

    Ramona :)

Thanks for the help. The address book info is good to have, but wasn't the problem. The suggestions for "can't send mail" didn't work at first, so I uninstalled and removed ALL files (the hidden file info was extremely helpful). Reinstalled and still experienced some problems. At first, couldn't get server to recognize the email user at all (which was new). Ended up resetting the password, then could receive, but still couldn't send. The mail acct general settings were ok, but finally going to "View settings for this account ", advanced button and changing setting to "Always use Default server" did the trick. Out of 20 users, this was the only one w/ problems, and there's no rhyme or reason as to why it occurred, but Netscape is our preference, so we'll deal w/ these oddball failures. Thanks again!

    Laurie
