Hi all, I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
I recently had a problem with loading windows as everytime i tried loading it would stop load the wallpaper and do nothing else ie no icons, no taskbar, no access to task manager. I tried loading safe mode(all 3 types) and after loading the sys files it would restart and come back to the F8 screen. nothing seemed to work. So i installed windows again but in another folder as i was hoping to eventually come back to the original windows. i ran a virus scan in the new windows and removed all detected viruses however still couldnt revert to my old windows because the same problem prevailed. i finally gave up and started using my this new windows inspite of not being able to access several applications.
My new problem with the current windows is as follows: My system restore is disabled and if i try enabling it i receive a msg saying it has been disabled by admin ( I have just the one account for login ) Now i try restarting in safe mode and i get a blue screen error saying "Problem detected, windows shut down to prevent further damage. Tech details: STOP: 0x0000007B(0xF895828,0xC0000034,0X00000000,0x00000000) "
So there seems to be no way of enabling system restore.

If you could help me out with any of these problems including the case of my original windows, it would be very helpful.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

It seems that your system is in a right mess and this has not been helped by installing a second copy of Windows. It would have been far better to seek assistance with the problems surrounding your original install.

I think you have two problems - hard drive and malware. This worries me ....
This would naturally pick up all viruses on the system, not just in the fresh install so was your kept av up to date?

The stop error refers to an inaccessible boot device .....
My first suggestion is to ensure that you have a backup of all your personal data and then log onto your working copy of Windows and run chkdsk .....

Start > Run > chldsk /r > Enter, accept the option to run at the next boot and reboot. Then test out both Windows installations and report back.

Bottom line here is that you may be better off formatting the drive and making a clean install after checking the drive with the drive manufacturer's disk diagnostic software....

    ExcelStore ....

    Hitachi/IBM .....

    Samsung ....

    Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum .....

    Western Digital ....

However let's leave that option to a last resort although I would recommend checking the drive out anyway.
