I e mailed myself a GIF file from another location to my home PC, which is running Windows XP home and Outlook 2000 SP3. I e mailed it out of a Lotus Notes account as HTML and it had a Gif file in the content of the mail. When I recieved it on my home acount using Outlook 2000 the gif file was moved from the content area of the mail to an attachment, which had the gif file extension, but when I execute the file it opens as a picture with no animation. The program that it opens in Microsoft Photo Editor. Do I just need to associate GIF files with another viewer, and if so, what should I use?

Save the GIF to a location you can find later

Right click on the saved GIF in Windows Explorer (or through My Computer)and choose Open With...

Choose Internet EXplorer as the program to open it with. You will get a choice to associate GIFs with IE as you go.

You might want to get Ifranview, it opens just about any image file on the planet. Get it's plugins for full use, you may like this program.
