    I goofed again. When i click on Start/Programs and see the programs listed i cannot right click on them as i could in the past. Right clicking works well everywhere else. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    You say you 'goofed again'. Did you do something interesting that caused this?

    Nope, I didn't do anything. Thats the goof. :)

    It may have well been like this when I got the computer and I didn't notice. After installing anti virus and other programs I clicked on start/programs and tried to delete the shortcuts that I didn't want there. Thats when I noticed that I was unable to right click. This is the first time I've encountered this problem with my three computers. But right clicking does work everywhere else without a hitch, just not with the start menu shortcuts.

    Any possible reasons for this along with a solution?

    Thanks.

    Go to Control Panel > Taskbar & Start Menu > Start>click "customize" then "Advanced" tab, and make sure "enable dragging and dropping" is checked.

    Johanna's suggestion is the fix that most frequently works but to cover as many bases as possible, both for this post and future Archive dips....

    If I remember correctly there was also a gatcha' for those who have chosen to speed up the menu by using a tweak for "menushowdelay ". The default is 400. Values can be set from 0 to 999 with 0 being the fastest. Some have suffered a glitch both or either cascaded menus not opening or a rightclick context menu loss.

    The registry hkey is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    Tweakui for xp also has a sliderbar that adjusts menu speed.

    =======
    I know Xp also has a switch (somewhere) that sets an option to modify the behavior of the opening of the startmenu subfolders. They can open at your speed on a pause or require a click in order to open. I wonder if this setting would also effect a rightclick in some way. Hmmmm..

    Thanks Johanna, that was the problem.

    Goddez1: Nope, not the problem here. I've quit tweaking where I have no understanding of what I'm doing. In the past I tweaked just to be tweaking only to have more problems than I could handle. I've learned much but its a lot easier to ask someone first. :) Thanks.
