It seems that all of a sudden, I cannot paste onto the desktop or from directory to directory.
Copy seems to work correctly, I just cannot paste from the clipboard.
    OS Windows 2k
    Does anyone have suggestions?

Click on start, click on run, key in
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    click on OK.

If that doesn't help, post back.

Well shoot - I was hoping a simple fix would work. Ah well.

Copy seems to work correctly, I just cannot paste from the clipboard.

Could you give more detail. Copy / Paste usually involves the clipboard and copy is sorta worthless unless you can place the stuff you copy to some other place where you need it. I'm thinking I am reading one thing and you meant another.

    Do you get any errors?

Were you instructed to insert your 2K CD when you ran sfc?

When running "sfc /scannow" I got no errors and no, I wasn't ask for the w2k cd.
Can "copy" works but I cannot "paste" from the clipboard.
By this I mean that after copy, I check the clipbook and the item is there but when I go to paste it to a different folder or to desktop, all I get is a "ding" sound from the computer. No errors, no nothing it just does not paste.
However I can copy/past within an app. such as MSWord doc with out any problem.
    thanks

If copy/paste doesn't work when logged on as a different user, Explorer may be corrupt. Have you tried re-applying the latest SP or repairing IE?

The Blaster worm caused this sort of problems. Try online scans at RAV and Housecall to make sure you are clean. Otherwise, I'm puzzled.

    Got it............thanks

Out of desperation, I downloaded a program called "Spy Doctor" and ran it. This program found "3 infected files" and ask if I wanted them fixed. Because I was ready to formatt the hard drive and start anew, I did not even look to see what the infected files were. At this point I really did not care howerever in retrospect I wish I had made note of them.
Anyway, Spy Doctor fixed the files and in doing so fixed my problem.
Strange that Symantec Anti Virus with latest file def. did not catch this.
    thanks for your help.

    I've the same error too

Hi all, I found this thread searching in google cos i've the same problem, I admin a win2003server and sometimes without any cause copy/paste function doesnt work, it shows no error, simply you copy something (files, text images...)and paste it but not work, the user must open a new session to drag & drop.

Its a Dual Opteron 2600 2 gb RAM and ~64 users working simultaneously. It has no special application installed: StarOffice, MS Office, SQL server, Autocad, etc etc.

PD: Sorry about my english, I'm spanish.
