Cannot open Office Files by double clicking

    HI guys...

    I have this really puzzling problem.whenever i double click on a office file(words or excel), it can't open it up. it either hangs there and does not open at all or it will take like 40sec to open the file. But when i open the office file using the File >Open it opens very fast.
    I tried with solutions from all the websites i can find but none seems to work. my last resort is to reformat the PC. but me trying to avoid that. SO you guys know any solutions?

    Try right clicking on a Word Doc and select Open With->Select Choose Program->In the next window select Word and place a check mark in the Always Use box.
