My old comp was win 98 SE and the e mail program was Outlook Express(?).I think the "contact" files had the .wab ext.I backed them up onto a cd.

My new comp--2 yrs old now-is win vista home premium(64 bit). E mail prog is Win Mail.

I managed to transfer my "contacts" into my new "Contacts" folder. Each one has the .contact ext.

I cannot open them. Tried umpteen associations.

Is there an easy way of solving this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Graham Newey

You should be able to import the .wab file directly.

In Windows Mail, select the Contacts section. Then click on import and select wab from the drop down menu.

Thanks for your time and trouble.

Don't think I explained my problem clearly.

ANYWAY--went to the "set association cotrol panel ".
, browsed to Windows Mail>wab.exe and "chose" that. The prog now showing as the default opener is "Windows Contacts ".

Can now open my Contact files--at last.

    Thanks again,

    Regards,

    Graham
