I have a Windows 98 Gateway PC. I want to logon to a network using client for microsoft networking. I have all my settings for this. For some reason, when the machine boots up, no logon screen appears. After boot up, if I go to Start and logoff, it brings up the logon screen. This seems to be the only way to get it. I have checked my network settings over and over. Everything looks the same as my other PC's.
    Any thoughts?

If you originally logged on by leaving the password block blank, you wouldn't be likely to see the logon screen in the future.

Try renaming any .pwl file you find to *.pwl.old and rebooting. You should see the logon screen. You will need to put in a password this time though or it will go away again.
