I was unable to forward email from an inbox.com account to a yahoo mail account.

    the message is:

"Can not connect to SMTP server <mail.yahoo.com>. "

Is there any tweaking I can do to to get this through?

You need to configure the correct smtp server settings for your inbox.com email account.

I'm assuming that you are using an offline client rather than webmail.

Check your account settings. See here for instructions for various email clients.

    More info is available here.

I am using a free webmail account offered by Inbox.com.

Will I still be able to configure smtp?

SMTP will already be configured if you're using the web based service. You only need to configure smtp if you are using an offline client such as Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Eudora etc.

I think I just solved half the problem by putting the SENDING ACCOUNT in the contacts list of the RECEIVING ACCOUNT.

I don't know yet if I will be able to forward mails the other way.

Firstly: Well you're trying to send an email to

    That syntax is wrong.

Try: RECEIVING ACCOUNT@yahoo.com Change the receiving domain to yahoo.com

Secondly: You haven't said whether you're using webmail or an email client (or which one).

    Thirdly:
This seems odd to me. Maybe I've got this wrong but 127.0.0.1 is localhost (ie your local machine) and if I'm correct you are trying to send this email from a mailserver on your local machine??????

I think I am using "webmail" both free email services available on the web: inbox.com and mail.yahoo.com

I am not using Outlook Express or any email proprietary to one browser.

I understand this rule on the forum.

The problem is that the issue is not resolved.

    the problem is still occurring.

I have to check for a couple more days.

I am also querying the support people at the first account, as well as looking at the settings for the receiving accounts to see the problem.

One problem is that yahoo webmail may have limited capacity. Only "yahoo plus" may be able to receive some forwarded emails.

I also am looking the POP3/SMTP settings in the first account, but I am not sure if this is the problem.

Actually my email client (?) sent me this message:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Dear Inbox.com user

In order to increase the security of your outgoing emails we added additional security
    layer.
We would like to inform you that Inbox.com SMTP server on port 465 will be switched to
    SMTPS on March 6, 2012 23.59 PST
Please do not edit your email settings before this date!

We implemented SMTPS method (vs. SMTP) on the port 465 to provide a secure client server
connection. There is no change needed for ports 25 and 587.
If you are using port 465 you may need to change the settings of your email client by
enabling SSL/TLS for SMTP server. If your client does not support SSL/TLS please use port
587 and disable SSL/TLS. Please refer to the FAQ to find out settings for various email
    clients http://email.inbox.com/faq_email.aspx?id=3857

    Sincerely,
    Inbox.com Development Team
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This means I am going to somehow have to configure or at least check on SMTP and the other settings mentioned.

So I do not know if this issue is resolved for me.

Since you are using webmail, this doesn't apply to you. It would only apply if you were using an email client like Windows Mail or Thunderbird etc.
