I recently upgraded from Win 7 Ult to Win 8 Pro(see My System). Can't seem to find drivers for ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series(MDS Corp. WDDM v1.20). Already tried from this website http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-hp-dv6-3xxx-dv7-4xxx-envy-17-1xxx-intel.html but the drivers would leave the screen black until held down the power button for second and I would have to tap the power button then tap the space bar. I would then get an image on the screen and tap any key to access the sign in screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry didn't mean to upset you. Thanks anyway. I'll try and find them on my own.

No Ski52 I missed something I posted an upgrade when I just realized I didn't perform an upgrade I took the win7 ult. HDD out and installed a zeroed out hdd and performed a full install from a retail upgrade disk. Now when I go to the hp site I cannot get any win 8 drivers for my laptop. I tried installing some of the software and it asked if I would like to install in compatibility mode or they installed correctly. I chose installed correctly but none of the software was listed in programs and features. Maybe I'll try one install using compatibility mode option to see if it lists in programs and features. The ATI has swithable graphics. Evan Omo I'll try that link. thanks.

Tried the link and got this message. ATI Catalyst cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. The version of your graphics adapter is not supported. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update. I called HP the other day and was told all I had to do was reinstall the driver. It's seems it did not work out that way. The ATI site has option al download HyraVision Package. Would that work

No the Hydravision Package is a different program.

There are no drivers available for Windows 8 for your particular laptop model. Windows 7 is the only Operating System supported however you might be able to install the Windows 7 video drivers and see if they successfully install. Download the video drivers from here, HP Pavilion dv6t-3000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.

I guess the only way to go is to install win 7 and then perform an upgrade. Everything is working. The only thing missing outside of the system software is the switchable graphics. Thanks everyone.

The drivers are working but on powering up the power button light and the hibernate light start blinking on/off until I tap the power button then it will go to the lock screen. After that I tap the spacebar and the login screen appears. Could it be going directly into either sleep or hibernate mode. If I get that fixed everything else seems Ok. Any suggestions.

Did you install the chipset drivers for your laptop from the link in my previous post?

Not yet gonna do that now. If it lets me. I noticed a second display monitor in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen resolution. I don't have a second monitor.

Uninstalled the drivers that I downloaded from the link in my original post. Now I have the exclamation in the yellow triangle next to the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series(Microsoft Corp. WDDM V1.20). The machine is booting normally and no more second screen.

You need to install the video driver from the link in post #7. There is no guarantee that the drivers will work with Windows 8 but you should be ok with installing the Windows 7 drivers.

I tried to install the video driver. Still not fixed. I did not install Intel High Definition (HD) Graphics Driver sp52351 The device manager shows that: The device is working properly.

Did the AMD driver install correctly or did you get an error message?

The driver from your link showed it installed successfully but still did not fix the entry in the Device Manager and it's not listed in Programs and Features or the systrsy(Notification Area). Still no switchable graphics either.

Well I am not sure what else to suggest since you are taking a gamble with installing Windows 7 drivers on a Windows 8 system and you may run into problems with compatibility.

I'll keep hunting around the net and see if I run into anything. If I do I'll update this thread. If you think of anything please else let me know. I have the Windows 7 Ultimate HDD installed right now, but, I'll probably swap back to the Windows Pro HDD later on today. Thanks for all you help so far.
