I was installing Windows XP Pro and all was running smoothly until it started 'installing devices' and then it attempted to install the devices but it would instead after about 10 minutes or so of trying, reboot the computer and then flash up with a blue screen (too quick to read), and then state that it would be restarting the setup... It would attempt to install the devices again and then suddenly reboot once again... You get the general picture.

I cannot access the startup menu at all. How do I quit the installation now it has started or alternatively, figure out a way to sucessfully install Windows XP Pro?

Hi harinii101. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Try unplugging all external devices that you have connected to the computer. Leave only the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and power cables connected to the computer. See if that makes any difference. If you want to restart the Windows XP setup, boot from the Windows XP CD and format the harddrive then start the installation again.

    Thank Evan! :D

I haven't plugged my laptop into anything but its power supply.... Also, I can't get to the normal Windows menu to attempt to format my hard drive.... Any other ideas?
