    I have some DVD-RW that have previously been used once or twice for recording videos on but now want to re-use them for data purposes eg. backups etc. Problem is that the Video_TS and Video_RM folders won't delete. Have tried erasing them on my domestic DVD recorder and even reformatting on it but it still leaves the two folders on disc.
    On my PC I have tried the Windows (XP) and 'Unlocker' software but I get the message that these are Read Only files etc. and 'Unlocker' implies that the files will go after a reboot, but they don't. Have also used 'Nero' and 'CDBurnerXP' erase programs (deep erase) and these progs say that disc has been successfully erased, but it hasn't.
    Surely there must be a way of fully erasing a RW DVD, after all I thought that's what they are for.
    If I look at the properties of the DVD in Windows Explorer it displays as:-
    Used 32.0 MB, Free 0 MB. What the devil is going on.

    lydeard;
    I use http://www.imgburn.com/

    When I erase my DVD-RW disc, it is left with a blank disc ready for formatting.

    ImgBurn is free and does other things but I use it primarily for erasing the disc.

    Many thanks for reply. Have downloaded 'imgburn' and am finding my way around it but it does SEEM to have erased disc sufficiently for me to get some folders on it, albeit with a couple of errors showing on the verification although all files appear to be present and correct. Maybe the DVD is in less than perfect condition. Many Thanks

    DVD/RW's are cheap compared to your data. I would throw away the disk.
