A few days ago I installed Motorola Phone Tools (which apparently has some sort of link to Outlook for synching address books and similar options), but decided I don't want it and uninstalled it thoroughly with Revo Uninstaller. But now, every time I open Outlook (which is every time I boot up, because it's included in my startup programs), I get the following pop-up message:
"The Add-in "Motorola Phone Tools" (C:\Programs\Motorola Phone Tools\Outl98.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in. "
But I can't find anywhere in Outlook to uninstall the Add-in! Help menu > Disabled items lists two add-ins, but not the Motorola Phone Tools one. I've also run Registry First aid and Office Diagnostics, but without success.
The folder C:\Programs\Motorola Phone Tools no longer exists. And I thought of getting an update from Motorola to re-install the Phone Tools (and thus have a clean boot-up, even if I don't want to use the app), but there isn't an update available.
It's not the end of the world; I can wait for the pop-up, hit return, and everything carries on normally. But it's annoying, because I can't just boot up, go make a coffee, and come back to find the system up and running.
    Grateful for any advice.

    Hello,

Download OfficeIns from Nirsoft and open it see if you find the add-ins there. If not go to

Start | Run | Regedit | then go to
    HKLM | Software | Microsoft | Office | Outlook | Add-ins and look for Motorola add-in there.
    Also HKCU | Software | Microsoft | Office | Outlook | Add-ins

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Hi Captain and thanks for advice.
Before I started loading something new (like OfficeIns) I wanted to try with what I've already got on board (Regedit).
HKCU gave me nothing, but under the HKLM you gave me I found four Add-ins. Three were clearly irrelevant to this query, but the 4th read "OMS Add-in (MS Outlook Mobile Services) ", which sounds likely.
Before I kill it, do you think that's the culprit?

    Try:
    Tools – Trust Center – Add-ins - and see if it’s there.
To disable or remove- at bottom of page where says - Manage - put Com Add-ins in drop down box and click go.

MS Outlook Mobile services is part of Outlook and can be disabled if not using it. Don’t think it’s your culprit though.

ps- Steve - couldn't find Add-in manager button in 2007 so gave alternate method (find myself killing addins a bit)

Instead if COM add-ins try exchange add-ins the click Go then see if you find something. OMS is native add-in.

    Got it, finally!

Steve: In Outlook->Tools->Options->OTHER tab->Advanced Options buttion->Add In Manager button - do you see anything there?

No; as ephemarial says, that button wasn't visible.

But: Tools "“ Trust Center "“ Add-ins - and see if it’s there.

And it was! I'd never have found it there (after trying exchange add-ins). And none of the Help screens mentioned that option.

Many thanks to all for your kind input - that's solved the problem.
