when I try to install any number of programs, the installation fails and the following message is displayed:
    "cannot create shortcut c:\docum\... xxx.lnk
    error 8007007e "
On several installs, I get several of those .lnk message with different file names, same path.
I have looked in explore--various users (admin, all users, etc) Start Menu, security tab, and don't see anything in there that might be a problem, not that I know what the problem might look like...
    Any help anyone??
    Thanks.

Any errors listed in Event Viewer?

To open Event Viewer, go to Start > Run and type eventvwr.msc, click OK.

Check your Application and System logs for errors.

You can double click on any error for more details, and there is also a button to copy the error to your clipboard for easy copying & pasting.
