I have a friend who has a Dell GX520, and the mother board has failed. I have removed the hard drive and have it in a docking station connected to my computer which runs Windows 7. I am attempting to copy all the personal folders , photos, music and the like to my computer, but keep getting the message that i do not have access rights. I have the password for this HD, how can i sign into it so i have access rights to copy all the files i wish to copy. Many thanks

    Arie,
I have been doing this , but when i take ownership of a folder, i also have to do it to every sub folder as well, and it's taking a lot of time. Is there any way i can take ownership of the complete hard drive, as there are so many folders to copy. Many thanks.

The method listed should cover that.
