Cannot Copy and paste to MS word

I cannot copy something from internet using edit menu, open MS Word and then paste from the edit menu. The paste function is turned off. I have Aol 8.0 and XP Home. Instead of going to word, I can open the file menu, click new and paste to that. I have AOL 6.0 and Windows 98 on another computer and can copy and paste very easily. I have also tried the keyboard
Ctrl + v. Does not work. I would greatly appreciate your help

I Have just seen this in the application section of this forum
under works and word .

Cant you just drag and drop ---can you tell i dont know (blank)
about msword --works
