I have an XFX nVIDA 8800GT and a Samsung 932BWPlus. I have been running them in native mode. 1440x900, 32bit; 96 DPI, 75Hertz, driver 182.08. I downloaded the latest driver, 182.50, for the display card. Following nVIDIA instruction, I deleted the privious drivers and then installed the new ones. After rebooting the display size was 800x600 pixels. I received a notice that if I wanted, the size would be changed for me to a better size click yes. After clicking "yes" I received the display "Display size has changed, do you want to accept ", I chose yes, even though I could see the display size was still 800x600. I have tried using control panel>display>settings to change the display size to 1440x900. The size always returns to 800x600 after I accept the change. Clicking advanced>adapter>monitor show the correct board and monitor.
I have tried reinstlling the previous driver and also have gone back to the XFX disk and installed the original drivers. Always with the same result, 800x600.
I am currently running in vga mode which is 1440x800 32bit. This precludes me from running any program that has 3D.

    Vista or XP?

Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Vista), look for anything else that may have an influence on the graphics adapter (some have an overclocking or "tools" program). Uninstall that and start again.

In Windows XP you can boot into Safe Mode and uninstall there. You might want to try that. Check in Device Manager and uninstall the Display Adapter if it is still listed (check through the other listings in case there is a Display/Graphics listing...do you have a TV adapter?). In Device Manager, go to View -> Show Hidden Devices, see if there might be something related to graphics.

exactly the same here. after installing the newest driver 182.50, I cant change the resolution no more. It's stuck at 640x480. It occured with that new driver from nvidia. even with NO graphicsdriver installed, I still can't change the resolution.

did the new driver "destroy" windows? I already tried different monitors, older versions of display drivers, but the problem is still the same.

    my videocard is a 8800gt.

    any suggestions? :(
