I have an office of 6 machines and two printers on a network.
    3 are Win10 Pro
    3 are Win 10 Home
All Windows up to date ver 1709
Cable modem into a DLink Switch

Two Pro machines are connected to a private network and suddenly the rest are on a public network and cannot connect to the internet.

I cannot change them to a private network

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the network adaptors
    Updated the adaptors
Unplugged the modem and switch and restarted the network and computers many times
    Have run reset winsock
plus a host of other suggestions on various MS and other websites
Running the homegroup trouble shooter sends me to the network troubleshooter and I get local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration
Homegroup troubleshooter returns no networks are set to private
clicking on Private network has no effect

I really don't know what else to try.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

I was only trying the homegroup method as suggested by MS. We have files shared through the network with passwords in place.
Thanks. I will give it a try in the morning and let you know.

The 2 machines that are connected indicate that they are connected to two different networks - Both are the same LAN but one says network 5 and the other is Network 8.

One of the non-connected machines has a network 5 listed in the profiles with a category value of 1 but I cannot connect to this network.
Another machine had no profiles listed. I think it would be the result of resetting the network under Network Status in Settings. I copied the profiles from the network 8 machine to the one with no profiles but still no connection after restarting.

I still see unidentified network when hovering over the network icon in the system tray

    Please help

After copying the profiles from the network 8 machine to another computer, it suddenly had internet access to network 9 (YAY) but when I looked at the settings in the registry, network 9 had a category of 0 which would mean public.

I lost the connection to one of the machines that was connected now.

    All machines show Unidentified Network
