Resolved Cannot burn a DVD

Hi all,

I am not absolutely positive that this is a Windows OS issue but until I get an external DVD drive to test with I am looking in this direction.

I cannot burn a DVD. I have downloaded every DVD burner I could find a(maybe 8) nd they are all consistent in that they will get ready to go and then tell me that there is not a DVD in the drive each telling me in their own special way. I have burned DVD's on this Toshiba Satellite L455 in the past but the closest I can get is when I use Windows DVD Maker and it either makes a badly pixelated DVD or gets to xx% and then stops with no messages.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner cd.

If that doesn't help, your drive may be gone.

 

Got 2 out of 3 dvd drives working. I wish I could tell you confidently what I did to get them working but I do not know. I did clean the lense but it did not start working after that.

In any case I am writing away and have another thread going for the 3rd drive that refuses to drive.

Are you using the internal or an external dvd burner
If its external - make sure its powered by an ac adatper itself not by usb ( two usb cords)
You cannot expect the laptop power adapter to power it up alone
