    Hello lovely people,

I have spent months trying to sort this. I have a "compatable" wireless adapter, happily installed, windows 8 says the devise is working properly, the driver is fine, but I keep getting the 'cannot bind protocol stack' error message.

    I have done all the things previously mentioned, but just cannot crack it, here is my output from sfc /verifyonly;

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /verifyonly
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found integrity violations. Details are included
in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in
    offline servicing scenarios.

I am then unable to open the log file, intriguing, any help welcome, before I get rid of windoze unfortunately.

    Cheers.
    Liliput

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)
Yes, this catches a lot of folk out - copy CBS.log to the Desktop and open in Notepad.

I'm not sure that I can be of any specific help here and think that the Networking forum, to which I have moved your thread, is more appropriate.

Have you checked that you have KB2756872 installed? I would not be sure that that is an issue here if you read the MS article on KB2756872

I see you ran sfc /verifyonly - I suggest you run sfc /scannow

If SFC cannot fix the file, there may be nothing further you can do "” other than repair Windows.

Hello, Thanks for your replies, but as stated I have previously tried all the things listed.

Any help on how to repair windows, would be appreciated.

Did the adapter ever work at all? What's the exact model name of the adapter?

Woo hoo, after over a year of trying, I now correspond via my wifi connection and can move the computer OUT of my sons room.

I simply reinstalled windows 8, doh. A virtual kiss to all that helped. Many thanks for all your help.

You're welcome :) With hindsight you might have tried a repair sooner :D
