    Hi,
In my company a computer attached to laser machine contain win 98. I want to map Public Folder (which is on server). After writing "\\server ", one window appears having user name "\\server\IPC$" (by default) and asking for password. I dont know what password I have to put. I tried administrator password but not accepting. Plz help me to find solution.

    Hi mmadni

    Welcome to the BBS!

Not clear what you want and what Laser printer has to do with it!

But to connect the Win98 computer to the Server do the below.

    On 98 machine
confirm "Client for Microsoft networks" is installed
confirm "File and printer sharing" is installed

Set 98 to use "Client for Microsoft Networks" to log on!

To logon to the Server the 98 computer must have a password so set one
(can not hit cancel on logon screen when booting up 98).

On the server create a user account for the 98 machine using the "exact" USERNAME and PASSWORD you used on the 98 machine.

Then try connecting to share! Example: \\server\publicfoldername

    Thanks mike,

Actually win 98 PC is connected with big "Glass Laser Cutting Machine (Brand Name: Bravo)â€. The problem is that I can’t create user account because it will disturb machine settings and technical support for that machine is in Italy. I already checked with them, they recommend me not change many settings. So, if there is another way just to access shared folder, do let me know.

    Regards,
    M.Madni

    Hi mmadni

    This
means that the UserName presented cannot be validated or perhaps does not even exist!

You must use a Username and password that the Server in Italy knows in order to connect!

It sounds like your IT people who have conrtol of the server are the only ones that can help you.

In your first post you said you had no connection and needed one. Now you say it is actually connected? Tell me what you know of this connection, what you can do on this connection etc. That may give me more info to help you!

    Mike
