    Hi,
I had the pleasure of working on a Gateway (5300) Laptop recently. I removed 18 Trojans, approx 25 spyware/malware and did some other essential house cleaning things. After I was finished, I tried to access Msconfig - Regedit and the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Each one would appear for about one second and then disappear from the screen almost as fast as it appeared. Each time I accessed them before detecting this problem I did so while in Safe Mode and that's why I never found the problem sooner. No matter what I did, such as running the virus protection (with all files & folders shown and operating system files) along with Spybot and AdwareSE nothing fixed the problem. I did all three as well in safe mode and nothing seemed to make a difference. Searched high and low for possible causes and the only one I found that worked was something called "BSPlayer.exe "...I eliminated it in Msconfig (startup) and in Regedit (HKCU) thru safe mode and now I can access Msconfig-Regedit and Task Manager...

    Hi,
Thank you for that information but in my previous post I tried to touch base with the fact I searched high and low for possible causes and nothing indicated that the "BSPlayer" was the culprit (or atleast a variant of the Klez Worm or any others). The virus / worm possibilities were amongst the missing when I tried to search and destroy them. However, if the "BSPlayer" is a variant, then when I found that source of info, I found it and the computer returned to the normal state as far as that problem went after deletion. Just wanted to pass it along, and appreciate your assistance.

Note: I failed to mention the Laptop has Windows Xp Pro Edition...
