I've had conflicts between some devices when using hubs. I've forgotten all the kinds of devices (it's been a while); but, Iomega had to help me out once with a Zip drive that I was having trouble with. I think I had to disconnect A Palm's USB interface before the drive would work. Anyway, that is not the only conflict I have seen with hubs; it's just one example. However, there are other devices that do not conflict with each other and this is where a five-port USB 2.0 card might come in handy. Maybe you could have a hub on more than one port and figure out which devices don't conflict with each other and place them on the same hub.

I recently ordered six, five-port USB cards from Alpha International ( http://store.yahoo.com/buyaib/mulhiscerusb.html ). They have an NEC chipset and the first four I ordered (previous to this order) all worked so well, I ordered these six.

Don't let the low price scare you away--$12. They're good hardware.
