On my XP system at home, my computer shuts off automatically at the end of shutdown. At work, it does not. I get a screen "it is now safe to turn off your computer" and I have to manually hit the button.

Is there a way to bypass this and have it turn off automatically? It takes a good 5 min. to shutdown each night, and it's a pain to wait for it.

I tried that already, but it's not really a "problem" just annoying.

raingirlIT--I understand you would like the work computer to shut down automatically when you click Shut Down, and it is your work PC that does not.
If you have an IT Dept. at work you should ask them about this. There may be a reason why they have set things the way they are.
However, here is article that may help

    Thanks. That article really helped.

Unfortunately, we don't have an IT person/dept. I am kinda the unofficial one for the company, except for a guy we hire on an hourly basis when we need him.

I have an "upgraded" computer, which may be old, may be new, I don't know. It's an old case, but it could be a new motherboard, etc, inside. Based on the info in that article, it does not appear I have the correct bios/system to auto-shut down. Oh well..worth a try anyway.
